The zoo Trip.

Hi blogger's,

On Wednesday the seniors at Hay Park School went to the zoo. First we all saw what group we were in and my Aunty came as a parent helper and in my group was Aice, Loiloi and Lovely. Then we watched a clip of all the rules of what we had to do at the zoo. Next we went to the bus and the bus was awesome because it had seat belts and it also had blue lights and I liked that bus. Then we got there and there was a zoo keeper named Lizzy and she told us all of the rules for extra. Then she took us to our spot where we will be hanging out for the day. We she finished my group went to go see some animals and the first animal we saw was a Red Panda and there was 2 I think and they were climbing in the tree. The next one we saw was a Orangutan and it was climbing on the towers and we took pictures. After seeing that we went to play at the playground and me and Loiloi went down the slide and I went on one slide and she went on the other and we went down on the same time. Then we had some food and I had chips and I shared with Loiloi.

Next we went to the to the Australia bush walk and we saw Emu's because the wallabies weren't there and  we saw a Red-Tailed black cocktail and there were 2. Then we saw fishes swimming in a tank. Then we went to the South America rain forest track and we saw big giant tortoises and we went in the lizard lane. Then we saw this question on the Lizard container and it said could you stand still as long as a lizard and I said 'No' because I could never do that. Then we had to go back to our spot to wait for Lizzy so she could take us to the Africa safari track and my group got there first and we were waiting for ages and while waiting we had a snack to eat. Then Lizzy came and we went to the Africa safari track and we saw giraffes, Zebras and Ostrichs. Next Lizzy showed us Giraffe skin and their teeth, also there poo. Next we went to go see the Meerkats and there was a tunnel and everyone in room six went in there. Then we saw a Rhino and there was only one. After we saw a water buck and a Nyala and there was one each and they were cool. Then we saw the Lions but sadly they had died because they were both 17 years old and lions eldest year is 15 so sadly both of the lions have died.

After we saw the Elephants and they were both inside because all there trees have been cut down and they have to move where there is more elephants at another zoo. Then we saw the cheetahs and they were both lying down. Then we saw the baboons and there was a cute baby one. Then Lizzy told us that she was gonna feed the Spider Monkeys and they were climbing every where and it was awesome. Next we went to the playground for a bit because it was nearly time to go back to school and then we all went bathroom before we went back and we had to leave the zoo and I said good bye to the animals and that was my day at the zoo.

The Wonder Project - Lesson 3

Hi Bloggers,

On Tuesday we had another Wonder Project Lesson and it was lesson 3. This one was different to the one we did last week because Colm our ambassador showed us a 1.5 litre bottle with water. We had a empty bottle. A bottle that has half water in it, and a bottle that had full water in it. Colm showed us what was the meaning of that activity and he had a sheet underneath those bottles and what he did next was was he pulled the sheet and all of the bottle didn't fall because he said if you pull it really fast then none of them would fall. Then some other kids got to have a try and some of them got it right and some only knocked down one.

Next we went in our group and the people that where in our group was Flo, Asmah, Aice, Emrico and we had to grab a whiteboard and a whiteboard maker and we had to draw a rocket and ours were pretty good then we went to the 1.5 litre bottles and I had a turn pulling the sheet and only one went down. Then we went back to the floor and the teachers took pictures of the drawings we draw. Then we went back to class and our teacher gave us a plain paper of a rocket on it and we had to design it and when we had finished we would go back to our groups had to pick the best design and we picked Emricos but Aice added a window in the middle and that was our lesson 3.

The Wonder Project- Test Launch

Hello Blogger's,

This week, for The Wonder Project, we looked at Health & safety Also we had a test Launch. We went to Keith Hay Park for our test run. What we needed for our test run was a 1.5 litre bottle & fins for the sides.  Keti & Justin,  got to launch the rocket with Cole and Cole is a scientist and we were so lucky that he took the time to do the Wonder Project with us. When we got to Keith Hay park Keti & Justin & Cole settled  up for there first launch and we were all it was cheering and off it went and it went high and it was  Awesome.

For our Health & Safety we watched a video from Rocket lab and it told us things that we needed to know for launching our rocket and our PSI limit was 60 and PSI stands for pound per square inch. We needed a air pump for it to go up and our PSI was 60 and 200 ml of water inside and the more the water that will be inside the lower it would be like it won't go that high because there is a lot water.

For the weather it is suppose to be a clear day so you aren't suppose to do it in the rain or in the wind or both because it can be really hard to launch because if the wind was going the side where you will launch it would be fine because it will just go the way you are launching, if you are launching the opposite way the wind is then it could hit you because if the wind was going to the right and you were launching to the left then it would go back because it's following the wind.

Food for thought

 Hi blogger's,

Last week my class and I had a Food for thought session by Isabel from the heart foundation company. We did activities in our first session like labelling food that goes in milk and milk products and vegetables and fruit, And a long section that was Sea food, Chicken, Fish, Eggs, Nuts, Seeds, Beans, also a section for Breads & Cereals , also they were everyday foods. Then she told us about things that are sometimes foods,  sometimes food are foods that have sugar so anything that has sugar it would be sometimes food. Then we had to do this activity and that activity was having random foods and we had the same section's like milk and mcilk products, fruits & vegetables,  Sea food, Chicken, Fish, Eggs, Nuts, Seeds, Beans, Breads & cereals and sometimes section and we had to put the food in that section like if we picked up a food we would put it in the fruits & vegetables section.

On the second session we did this activities with drinks that were  unhealthy and we had to guess it by the healthiest to the unhealthy drink and then when we finished our own Isabel actually showed us correctly but we got to guess with her to. We also figured out how many sugar each cereal has and the cereal's we did was, Coco pops, weet-bix, cornflakes, and we each had numbers and when she would call out our numbers we would tell her how much sugar was in that cereal.
